These results are provisional. However, as at time of publication, there are no known queries or issues to be resolved. The failure and replacement of control box 212 and its temporary substitution by an intermittent box has been addressed.

SELOC were pleased to be able to accommodate slightly higher numbers today at Lever Park than might have been anticipated after yesterday's weather locally. Obviously, Lever Park isn’t really sufficiently technical for Green and Blue courses but I hope the competitors on these courses enjoyed a good, fast run. When SELOC first decided to put the event on it was anticipated that we would be using some of the more technical areas on the eastern half of the map but we were refused access.  At least this avoided having a rather large height gain \ course length ratio on these two courses as the eastern half of the map climbs steeply to The Bungalow Gardens and Rivington Pike.  Perhaps if we had made it clear beforehand there was very little climb on any of the courses some of the Green course competitors may have been tempted onto the Blue course?  The Green course was more of a light Green course and it was for this reason I didn’t plan a Light Green course for the event

I estimated beforehand that the 7.7k Blue course would be won in about 40 minutes. The winning time was 38.23 (well done Steve Watkins) so I wasn’t far out.  Lever Park is ideal for less technical courses and it was pleasing that the White, Yellow, Orange and Red courses all had a reasonable number of competitors.  It was particularly pleasing that there were 12 competitors on the Red course.  Many District events don’t seem to have Red courses these days.  I did a Red course at the first orienteering event I ever went to and they are ideal for reasonably fit adults who are new to orienteering.

Finally, my thanks to Tom Gray, the controller for his advice and comments and for sorting out the control boxes which malfunctioned on the day. Also, as usual, my thanks to Paul Turner for programming all the control boxes.
