Today 21st
June 2009 at Tandle
Hill Country
Park the East Lancashire
Wing ATC Orienteering competition was held. Seventeen teams from 14
Squadrons took part. They ran an orange standard course 2.85 km
long. The winning squadron was 1969 from Rossendale. Both members of the team
are members of Pendle Forest Orienteering Club. The organisers and
helpers for PFO and SELOC were impressed by some of the results from the
non orienteer’s who obviously put lots of effort into the competition.
The event
was run for the Wing by the three local clubs in which the squadrons are based,
Manchester and
District Orienteering Club (MDOC), South East Lancashire Orienteering Club
(SELOC) and Pendle Forest Orienteering Club (PFO). These clubs would
welcome enquiries to help develop orienteering further in the various units by
providing coaching and events for the cadets to go to.
