DESCRIPTION:In these strange times we are turning to new ways of putting on events. MapRunF is a mobile app which allows you to set up virtual orienteering and running events. It tracks your location\, records your time and records when you visit controls\, then compiles results automatically\, allowing people to take part whenever they like and compete in a virtual race. \n  \nWe’ve set up an event using the Ramsbottom Street O map. It’s a 75 minute score course with controls worth different points and the idea being to collect as many points as you can. All you need to do is download the instructions and map below\, get set up with MapRunF\, print out the map and you’re good to go. You can do it whenever you like and your result will be automatically uploaded. \nLocation: the start and finish is at the bus stop outside the Hare and Hounds in Holcombe Brook. DESCRIPTION:Updated: Friday 28th Feb @ 8pm \nUnfortunately\, due to the poor weather this week\, the rain overnight tonight\, and the predicted high winds for tomorrow afternoon/evening we have taken the decision to cancel this event on safety grounds. \nThe ground is already sodden\, the slopes are extremely slippery\, and the heightened risk of falling/broken branches from already storm damaged trees is too much of a safety risk for both the competitors and the event volunteers. \nDon’t worry\, you will get to run this lovely country park in next seasons Night League. \nOnce again we are sorry to have to cancel – Dean (Planner) \n  \nUpdated 22/2/20 with Safety alerts and Notes for Green/Blue Courses \nNight event at Tandle Hill Country Park. This is the final event in the North West Night League for this season 2019-2020 and your last chance to earn points. \nTandle Hill Country Park consists of approximately 110 acres\, a combination of beech woodland and open grassland. The park contains a countryside centre\, picnic areas\, children’s play area and numerous trails and paths. The open woodland is some of the most pleasant runnable forest you will find – if it were a bit bigger it would one of the UK’s premier orienteering venues! \nLocation: Tandle Hill Road\, Royton\, OL2 5UX. As always please pay attention for low hanging branches. \nSpecial Notes for Green and Blue Course Competitors \nBoth the Green and Blue Courses have one special item control described with the symbol  O\, this is a Wooden Hide or as the Controller described it\, a Neanderthal Hunting Lodge! \nThe Blue course is a double sided map. DESCRIPTION:Start times for this race will be in the afternoon. \nThe Event Centre (in a sports centre) is 25 minutes walk from Liverpool Lime Street station. You can also take a bus from the bus station close to Liverpool Lime Street or from the Liverpool One bus station near the Waterfront area. We will publish details of the bus timetables nearer the event. \nWe will make every effort for any competitors who have been able to get tickets for the Liverpool football match (now confirmed as on the Saturday afternoon\, kick-off at 15:00) to have their orienteering run and get to see the game. It is 30 minutes to walk from the Event Centre to Anfield stadium.\nBe aware that tickets for Premier League matches are usually sold out to season ticket holders and registered members. DESCRIPTION:The second event in this year’s Saturday series will take place on 9th February 2019 at Haigh Country Park\, Wigan. \nThese local Saturday afternoon events are ideal for newcomers to the sport\, as well as offering a technical course for more established orienteers. \nCertificates will be available for all juniors and if you attend more than one of the series there will be prizes to collect \nParking The address is Haigh Woodland Park\, Haigh\, Wigan\, WN2 1PE. \nRegistration is from 1130-1300 \nStarts from 1200-1400. \nEntry Fee is £4 for adults\, £2 juniors\, SI card hire is free (though there is a charge for lost cards) \nAs usual\, there will a choice of three courses: \n\nYellow (ideal for newcomers and younger juniors)\nOrange (slightly longer and slightly more tricky navigation\, ideal for older juniors and adults new to the sport)\nTechnical (offering more navigational challenge and length for those who have orienteered before)\n\nThe start is near the Courtyard Café so a great opportunity for post-run refreshment! \nNew for 2019\, these Saturday afternoon events will take place in clusters within three different geographical areas. After Haigh\, we move onto the Bury area with Chesham Woods (30th March) and Nuttall Park (6th April)

DESCRIPTION:SELOC are hosting the 4th event in the NWNL series at Lever Park\, Horwich \nLocation and Parking:  \nRegistration and parking is at the bottom end of the lane that leads up to Rivington Hall and Barn. This lane is accessed opposite Great House Barn (the venue for the daytime event). This will be signed off Rivington Lane. There is plenty of parking on the lane. \nNearest address: Great House Barn\, Rivington Lane\, Rivington\, BL6 7SB \nGrid reference: SD 629 139 \nUnfortunately there are no facilities \nRegistration:  1730-1830 \nOpen start times: 1800-1900\, courses close at 2030. Start/finish are both within 100m of registration/parking. \nEntry Fees: Seniors £6 (£7 non-BOF members)\, Juniors £3. Entry on the day only. \nSI card hire is free (£30 charge for lost cards) \nCourses: Orange 3.0km\, Green 5.1km\, Blue 6.7km (very little climb) \nTerrain: mixture of runnable deciduous woodland with areas of thicker vegetation and fairly extensive path network throughout much of the area. \nSafety:\n \nWhistle and backup light are compulsory \nWaterproof jackets may be compulsory in the event of bad weather \nYou must report to download before 2030\, even if you retire \nAll courses cross the road through Lever Park twice. The road crossings will not be marshalled. There will be very little traffic but what there is can be fast moving – please take care.

DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for some orienteering in Worsley Woods. Ideal for beginners (including families with young children) and experienced orienteers alike. Come and explore the (relative!?) tranquility of these woods nestled in the leafy suburbs of Salford – either side of the M60.  Don’t believe me – then google “Worsley woods images” yourself! \n \nWhere \nWe will be meeting at Beesley Green\, just off Greenleach Lane\, near the junction with Lumber Lane\, in Roe Green.
