Apologies for the dead box at no.13 Blue / no.8 Green. A very brief postmortem (I gave it a shake) suggests that something has come loose rather than the battery dying, We replaced the box as quickly as possible (with thanks due to John Embrey who hot-footed it back with the replacement) but quite a few people had already passed by that point. The consensus amongst those I spoke to at the download tent was that minimal time was lost and that we should not void the leg to and from the control, especially since they were two quite significant legs on both courses. We’ve therefore made the control optional in the results which means some competitors have a split and others (who visited before the replacement arrived) don’t. I’m fairly content that nobody deliberately skipped the control in the knowledge that it was dead!
The second more minor issue was some odd timings on the splits print outs for early starters. This was due to a setting in the software that was set to a day event rather than a night event, which meant any punches after 6pm were recorded as 12 hours earlier. We sorted this fairly quickly so most people won’t have had erroneous print outs. For those who did the splits in the results are now fine.
