SELOC Club Night in September
The club night venues for September can now be announced. As ever sessions will run from 6.30pm to 8pm. Usual orienteering kit required – just turn up and join us.
Monday September 2nd – Queens Park, Bolton, BL1 4QP
Monday September 9th – Leverhulme Park, Bolton, BL2 6EX
Monday September 16th – Moses Gate, Bolton, BL4 7QN
Monday September 23nd – Turton Tower, Bolton, BL7 0HG
Monday September 30th – to be confirmed
From Monday October 7th will be back at the regular winter venue of Eagley Junior School, Bolton, BL7 9AT
Eagley Valley Clubnight Review
SELOC members enjoyed a newly mapped area for their training session on the evening of Monday 12 August – Eagley Valley in north Bolton.
For the seniors there was an score event and the results are below:

- Jason Middleton 34 mins
- Paul Turner 38 mins
- Joanna Treasure 55 mins
Juniors Toby and Theo Middleton, Josh Harrop, Lucy Seddon and Emily enjoyed finding a few simple controls on a less technical part of the map.
Clive Atty, the mapper and evening organiser, said he was pleased to see the map being used and seniors appreciating the challenge it presented, despite the rampant vegetation at this time of the year. One part of the map couldn’t be used at all because of the vegetation.
It is rumoured the area the map may be used for a night orienteering training session later in the year?
SELOC Club Night in August
The summer tour continues 6.30pm to 8.00pm throughout the summer … Here are the training venues for the next few weeks. These sessions are a great opportunity to get out in the summer sunshine and practice your orienteering before the Autumn fixtures get underway.
- 29th July No club night as Scottish 6 Days of Orienteering
- 5th August Leverhulme Park, Bolton, BL1 6EX with Elspeth Ingleby
- Meet at the car park near the athletics track
- 12th August Eagley Valley, Bolton, BL1 7JZ with Clive Atty
- Park in the streets on Eagley Bank. Try Park Row, Andrew Lane, The Gardens. Meet at the top of the cobbles (south end) of Eagley Brow.
- 19th August Lever Park, Horwich, BL6 7RX with Roy Stevenson
We will be meeting at the South Car Park (same venue as in June). The car park is on the other side of the road, just to the north of Rivington and Blackrod School.
