SELOC are pleased to announce our next event. We shall be at Clifton Country Park, Salford on Wednesday 2nd June.

In a slight change to normal and due to half term, the start will be open for an extended period of time between 16:00 and 19:00. So why not bring the kids down and run off some of the energy and boredom of the holidays with an exciting explore around the park? Or alternatively, go for a run to get away from the kids. Non members and members are all welcome.

This event is open to anyone looking for something different to do with the kids and members. There are three courses on offer depending on your experience which you can do as a gentle walk, jog or run. Clifton Country Park provides a great setting to Orienteer with many hidden features.

The courses available are listed below and are colour coded per normal Orienteering practice but don’t worry, we’ve included a quick explanation if you’re not familiar it.

• Yellow
  • Ideal for young children, families and newcomers. This course follows paths, with controls points being on paths. It is relatively short and navigation is quite easy.
  • Clifton’s yellow course will be about 2 – 2.5km long.
• Orange
  • Suitable for families looking for something longer than a yellow with more map reading required. It’s also suitable for adults as an introduction to Orienteering. Slightly longer than the yellow course and controls points maybe slightly off the path and require greater decision making.
  • Clifton’s orange course will be about 3 – 3.5km long.
• Light Green/ Technical
  • For the more confident/ experienced people with maps. You can expect to run or walk about 5km with controls located at feature points within the map which will not necessarily follow a path network.
  • Clifton’s light green course will be about 4 – 5km long.

Everyone needs to pre-book their place using the Fabian4 entry system.
